Yankee GRC held its fall TD/TDX test on September 15, at High Ridge Wildlife Management Area in Gardner, Massachusetts. It was a little wild and windy up there on the ridge – but even though the Weather Channel promised torrential rains from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hannah, we lucked out – they held off until all tracks were run, the ceremonies completed, and the wonderful lunch polished off. On the up-side, overcast skies and the occasional sprinkle made for nice, damp, scent-holding fields. Five golden, and 5 non-golden entries were received for the 5 TD tracks, and 3 golden, and 1 non-golden entries came in for the 3 TDX tracks.
The TD test was judged by Mrs. Sallie Richards, and Mr. Peter Hewitt. All teams put in a wonderful effort. Three of the 5 teams passed: Congratulations to:
Track #1 – Adirondac Polliwog CD TD JH (Polly), handler Maxine Clark, track layer Roseann Mandell.
Track #4 – Sunfire Save the Last Dance TD (Twister is 6 months old!), handler Susan Latham, track layer Pearl Palermo.
Track # 5 – Elysian’s the Duck Stops Here TD (Morgan), handler Noreen Sila, track layer Elaine Gianelli.
A bonus! Elaine also laid the spare TD track, which, with Peter Hewitt judging, was later used to successfully certify a new golden team to try for their TD later this fall!
The TDX test was judged by Mrs. Sallie Richards, and Mrs. Randie Meyer. All teams worked hard; one team passed:
Track #1 – Backgammon’s Anastasia TDX (Ana), handler Kathleen Duhnoski, track layer Peter Hewitt.
Events like this are only possible with the time and effort volunteered by numerous people. Many, many thanks to our wonderful judges, the Tracking Test Committee (Alison Desmarais, Geoff Stern, Roseann Mandell, Myrna Libby, Pat Scribner), Chief Tracklayers Jill Moffett & Amy Deutsch and their team of TD & TDX track layers and cross-track layers, hospitality organizers Sue Sommer & Marsha Wilcox, and their fabulous sous-chefs, and all of the folks in attendance who made this a fun day for all 2-footed, and 4-footed participants! Thank you to all!!!
The spring Yankee GRC TD/TDX Tracking Test is in April, 2003. See you there!
